How does an individual get referred to Y's Owl Maclure?Individuals with a developmental disability must receive a referral through Service Coordination. Service Coordination may be reached at 748-1788. Ask for 'intake'. Individuals with disabilities other than a developmental disability may self refer or, be referred by their family, a doctor, or another agency. Call Y's Owl Maclure at 721-1500 and ask for a referral form. Is there a cost to attend the program?There is no charge for the program. However, there may be some cost involved if you are attending a program which has community outings. For example, if you go to a recreational activity in the community, you will be expected to cover your own costs, including bus transportation.
Do you have a waiting list and, if so, how long is it?Yes, we do have a waiting list. The length of your wait will be dependant upon which program you are applying for. Some programs have relatively short waits, while others are lengthy.
Can I come and tour the programs?Y's Owl Maclure offers an information session and a tour of its facility at 1140 Morrison Drive, Suite 100, on the first Tuesday of each month. Reservations are necessary. Call 721-1500 to book a tour.
Are the programs wheelchair accessible?All center-based programs are wheelchair accessible. The Frank Emmett Work Centre, Owl Employment and Outreach programs are delivered in the community and accessibility is dependant upon the venue being used.
Does Y's Owl Maclure provide transportation to its programs?No. Individuals must travel to and from their program site independently. Once on site, transportation is provided to any of the community outings, either through agency vehicles or through the use of public transportation.
Can I be in more than one program at a time?Yes. Individuals may attend Y's Owl Maclure on a full or part time basis while attending another program, or may attend more than one of Y's Owl Maclure's programs at a time. We make every effort to accommodate an individual's choice.
