The Supported Independent Living (SIL) program promotes and supports adults with developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis to live independently in their community. The services and supports are identified with the individual through an Individual Support Plan that is based on the needs and preferences of the individual.
The SIL team provide support to individuals living alone or with others but independently of family members or of a caregiver. The program offers support for activities of daily living such as assisting with personal hygiene, grocery and personal shopping, meal preparation, housekeeping, medication administration and appointments. Services may also include training related to budgeting, banking, using public transportation and other life skills.
Referrals to the program are received from Developmental Service Ontario-Eastern Region for funded vacancies. Individuals and families may also purchase service using Passport or private funds depending on availability.
